Natural Mudcloth Quilt Block Jacket

Natural Mudcloth Quilt Block Jacket

Highlands Foundry x Salt + Still Collaboration

This Haori style jacket was made by The Highlands Foundry using vintage natural hand woven mud cloth from Mali, West Africa. The fabric is a soft cotton yarn that was handwoven into narrow strips of cloth and then hand stitched together. The cloth has a beautiful natural slub texture to it and is in amazing condition. After designing and sewing the jacket, Salt + Still took vintage cotton cloth and hand dyed pieces in cutch, pomegranate and indigo natural dyes. These pieces were then made into an amazing patchwork motif for the back of the jacket and also a patchwork pattern for the front band of the jacket. The colors for this patchwork were inspired by the Mojave Desert in CA and especially Joshua Tree Park.

The jacket is a relaxed fit based off of a vintage Japanese Haori jacket. This is a one size fits all style and truly a one of a kind piece.
